We’re incredibly proud of our Year 13 students who received their A-level results today, with more than 50% of grades awarded at A* to B.

There have been some fantastic individual achievements too.

Students are heading off to universities and apprenticeships across the country including Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Winchester, Bath Spa and University of the Arts London.

We’re also celebrating our first cohort to complete the LAMDA Drama qualification, alongside students who achieved the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

Headteacher Adam Darley said: “We are incredibly proud of our sixth form students. Not only have they achieved excellent academic results, but they have also played their part in creating the unique and supportive community that characterises life in the Purbeck Sixth Form.”

A huge well done to all of our students, and thank you to the staff and families who have supported them along the way.

Our Year 12 students have today all completed CPR training, learning life-saving skills that may one day prove invaluable. Mrs Scott, who trained the cohort, was particularly impressed with Bill’s enthusiasm, as he achieved two minutes and two seconds of resuscitation compressions (upon a dummy) along to the Bee Gees’ Staying Alive. Great work everyone.

We were once again delighted to welcome one of our catchment MPs, Vikki Slade, to The Purbeck School on Friday. In the past, Vikki has spoken with both our Sixth Form and Lower School Leadership Teams, and addressed the sixth form as a whole. Vikki has gone on to raise our students’ concerns in the House of Commons, especially those related to the cost of transport for those attending sixth form and colleges.

On Friday, she took questions from Year 10 historians and some of our Year 12 students. These included: ‘How do you feel about billionaire funding of political parties?’; ‘What is your opinion about the current arrangements for post-18 student funding?’; ‘How can politicians reach out to young people to balance the views of Reform?’ and various others related to political leadership, immigration and politics in general. It was wonderful, once more, to gain an insight into the world of politics, with Purbeck students demonstrating a genuine interest in, and sense of responsibility, for both our local and national communities.

On Thursday 7^th May, Year 13 students, along with many staff members, marked the end of their studies at The Purbeck Sixth Form with a wonderful prom at Kingston Country Courtyard. On a beautiful sunny spring's evening, we were able to enjoy the opportunity to dress up, take photos and celebrate each other’s company. Members of the sixth form leadership team organised a fantastic event which included welcome mocktails, a delicious buffet, a fun awards ceremony and plenty of dancing.
