This Half Term, Durlston Country Park in Swanage is hosting lots of Springtime fun, including events and activity trails to keep everyone entertained!
Between Friday 15th May and Monday 1st June, the ‘Super Seabirds’ Activity Trail swoops in to help you discover Durlston's amazing Guillemots, and the other seabirds that call the Country Park home!
As the Swanage Pirate Festival arrives in town on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th May, Durlston hosts a drop-in session giving you the chance to make your own Pirate Medallion. For those youngsters who love to get creative, head to Durlston’s Learning Centre on 27th May for Wild Wednesday, to have a go at painting, crafts and activities. No booking required, and it is free to attend, although make sure to dress for mess!
There’s so much more to enjoy at Durlston, including a bookable ‘Wildflower Hour of Power’ on Thursday 28th May, Durlston’s fantastic woodland ‘Play Trail’, Ranger-led guided walks and exceptional wildlife across the National Nature Reserve.
Visitor Services Ranger Shannon Dugdale states, “We always look forward to the holidays so we can welcome families to enjoy Durlston, but May is a particularly great time to visit as all the seabirds are back!”

This afternoon, our Year 12 students were visited by Sarah from the Student Engagement Team of Cardiff University, who delivered an engaging presentation about the many opportunities available to students considering studying there.
Sarah explained why Cardiff University is an excellent choice for higher education, as a prestigious Russell Group university with a strong international reputation. Students learnt about the array of subjects on offer with also the opportunity to study abroad or have a year in industry as part of their degree.
With student finance being a growing concern amongst students, Cardiff is a vibrant and student-friendly capital city with the key advantage of offering more reasonably priced accommodation and everyday expenses, making it an attractive option for students seeking value alongside quality education.
The presentation gave our Year 12 students valuable insight into higher education and what it is like to study at university.
