Year Captains

We’d like to introduce our year Captains who are part of our Student Leadership Team:

Aris

Throughout my years at The Purbeck School, staff supportively introduced me to many great opportunities so I knew the amount of support I would experience pursuing any subject I would choose in the sixth form. Offering specialists in every subject made myself and others confident in our studies, and enthusiastic in wanting to achieve our full potential. I have been guided step by step on how to set up my UCAS application thus preparing me for my future; the careers team will help advise you on your best possible options for university, higher level apprenticeships or jobs after sixth form. The Purbeck School encourages extra-circular activities to broaden your skills and potential new interests by offering trips and weekly enrichment where you can freely pick from a selection of activities. Being treated maturely at the sixth form is preparing me for adult life – together we show kindness, give support and display resilience.

Choosing to continue my studies in the sixth form has been one of the best decisions I have made. It has given me the opportunity to challenge myself academically while developing valuable skills such as independence, leadership, and resilience. The supportive teachers and welcoming environment have helped me grow in confidence, and I've enjoyed getting involved in opportunities beyond the classroom. Sixth form has prepared me for my next steps, and I am excited for the future.

I’m proud to be the Year 11 Captain and a member of the Sixth Form Leadership Team. In my role, I am responsible for supporting and looking out for students in this year group, helping to ensure everyone feels welcomed, valued and understood. Outside of school, I love camping, hiking and exploring the outdoors. I have worked my way through Scouts from Beavers to Explorer Scouts and recently completed my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expedition on Dartmoor. Over the coming year, I am looking forward to completing the remaining sections of the Gold Award. I also enjoy playing rugby, running and spending time on the water with my wave-ski. My favourite place to visit is South Gower in Wales, where I love spending time with my family and my dog, Murphy. Whether I’m with friends, listening to music or taking on a new challenge, I enjoy making the most of every opportunity. I like to think that I am approachable, friendly and supportive, and I will always make time to listen to others and help wherever I can.

Choosing to stay at The Purbeck Sixth Form has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. The smaller class sizes and supportive teachers have created an environment where I’ve been able to challenge myself academically whilst feeling encouraged every step of the way. The staff genuinely want every student to succeed and are always there to offer support, whether that’s with lessons, university applications or opportunities beyond the classroom.

Alongside studying Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths, I’ve had the opportunity to become a Year 9 Captain as part of the Sixth Form Leadership Team. This has allowed me to work with younger students, represent their ideas, and develop my confidence and leadership skills. I’ve also been encouraged to take part in programmes that have helped me grow both academically and personally.

My time at The Purbeck Sixth Form has helped me become more independent, ambitious, and prepared for whatever comes next. I would encourage anyone considering sixth form here to make the most of every opportunity as you never know where it might lead
