RNLI - National Women in Engineering Day

On 19th June a group of Y9 girls were invited to attend The RNLI HQ in Poole as part of National Women in Engineering Day.

With women currently making up less than 20% of the engineering sector, this RNLI event aimed to inspire students from the local area to make a difference in the world by pursuing a career in engineering.

Pupils had the opportunity to meet and quiz female engineers from the RNLI, who discussed the different roles they play in saving lives at sea. Alongside these RNLI engineers students were given many innovation engineering challenges and taken on a tour of the All-weather Lifeboat Centre where the RNLI builds and maintains its state-of-the-art 25 knot all-weather lifeboats.

The Charlotte Hosker Scholarship Trust, whose aim is to support Purbeck female students in STEM engagement, kindly donated funds to cover the transport cost of the trip.
